Hennes and Mauritz Studio Essentials AW26 - the art of the considered wardrobe
H&M Studio Essentials A/W26 is inspired by 1930s Milan – its Art Deco interiors, Rationalist architecture and the women who moved through both with effortless authority. Cinematic and considered, it’s a world that holds modernity and tradition in perfect balance. That world is reflected in every piece: curated, refined and built to last. Classic masculine tailoring and sharp dress shirts meet the softness of considered knitwear and lingerie-inspired pieces, creating a dialogue between structure and femininity that will carry through the season ahead. H&M Studio Essentials A/W26 will be in selected stores and at hm.com on 3 September.
H&M Studio Essentials is designed by the same in-house team as the H&M Studio mainline, applying the same creative vision to the building blocks of a considered wardrobe. Key pieces include a long, lean wool blazer with strong shoulders, a nipped-in waist and back slit, paired with matching slim bootcut trousers — lower-waisted, with an invisible waistband and a stitched pin-tuck seam down the front. A double-faced wool coat has a high funnel neck, deep raglan sleeves and a belt. The black double-faced leather jacket takes a softer approach: a more rounded shoulder and relaxed, boxy body.
Knitwear throughout features considered details — visible seams, small chin slits on higher necklines and press buttons. The slip dress has a sheer tulle layer that peeks out at the hems and neckline, a high slit and pin-tuck seams. Overall, the colour palette spans black, dark brown, smoky dark green, oat white and slate blue. Materials — wool, cashmere, leather, sheepskin, cotton poplin and jersey — are chosen for their opulence and tactility, rendered in minimalist silhouettes where every detail carries weight.
Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor and Head of Design Womenswear says
“H&M Studio Essentials is about knowing exactly what you want from your wardrobe – and having the pieces that deliver it every time. For A/W26, we were drawn to that push and pull between the sharply tailored and the deeply feminine. When those two things sit together, something really compelling happens. This is the foundation of a wardrobe with a point of view,”
