Strang Design South Island Villa - Golden Beach - Florida

South Island Villa was conceived as the primary home for a vibrant family with young children, designed to be a modern sanctuary grounded by warm, tropical materiality. The clients, who are deeply engaged and collaborative, desired an authentic Miami tropical setting that prioritized family life and entertaining.

The architecture, led by STRANG, successfully transformed the lot's irregular, cone-like shape—narrow at the street and widening toward the water frontage—into a design advantage. The resulting spatial sequence draws visitors seamlessly from a compressed entry through to the home’s primary living spaces. The design prioritizes the placement of the pool and main living areas, orienting them to capture the expansive southeast views toward the generous canal frontage.

The residence is defined by a warm, contemporary aesthetic that embraces its tropical surroundings through deep overhangs, planter-lined terraces, and a layered façade. It balances bold geometric volumes with soft, natural textures.

The interior is anchored by a warm contemporary theme with soft tones, custom millwork, and sculptural elements. The connection to the outdoors is paramount, with the outdoor living pavilion extending the great room and featuring a fully equipped summer kitchen, lounge seating, and a resort-style pool deck.

Executed with TREO Construction’s precision and attention to detail, the project was guided by a commitment to quality, a shared understanding of the design vision, and an exceptional spirit of collaboration. The team successfully navigated a high level of technical coordination, ensuring that every detail—from proportions and alignments to material transitions—was carried out with precision, ultimately delivering an elegant and genuinely livable home..

Narrow at the street and gradually widening toward the waterfront, the lot informs a carefully orchestrated sequence that moves from an intimate, compressed arrival into an expansive living space oriented toward the canal.

The residence pairs bold architectural forms with softer, natural textures. Deep overhangs, planter lined terraces, and a layered façade respond to the tropical climate while strengthening the home's connection to its surroundings.
