TAG Heuer Formula 1

captures Zandvoort’s final lap

At Circuit Zandvoort, where engines echo through the dunes and the crowd stays within reach of the track, TAG Heuer introduces two TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph 38 mm limited-edition timepieces. Rooted in the design language of the original TAG Heuer Formula 1, they commemorate the circuit’s final Formula 1® weekend.

The circuit never forgets. Every lap leaves a trace in rubber, in memory, in the pulse of those who chase speed. Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer introduces two TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph 38 mm, created to mark the final Dutch Grand Prix™.

Along the North Sea, where wind cuts through the dunes and engines echo across packed grandstands, the Dutch Grand Prix™ has built a reputation for raw intensity. At Circuit Zandvoort, the track feels close, almost compressed, with corners that demand commitment and precision. This setting fuels a new chapter for TAG Heuer Formula 1, reinforcing its racing lifestyle identity while expanding the Solargraph segment through a refined 38 mm format. The result captures a moment charged with tension as Zandvoort prepares for its final race.

Roots that Shape the Present

Since the early days of Formula 1, time has never been neutral. It decides positions, defines performance, and draws the line between control and risk. TAG Heuer built its reputation in this world, developing timing instruments that answered the demands of motorsport at its highest level. That relationship shaped the identity of the brand, grounding it in a culture where precision is not optional.

When the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection arrived in 1986, it introduced a different tone within watchmaking. It brought color, attitude, and a direct connection to racing into a format designed for everyday wear. The collection carried the spirit of the track beyond the paddock, translating speed into design. That foundation continues to guide TAG Heuer Formula 1 today, where each evolution remains tied to motorsport while adapting to new expectations.

Zandvoort fits naturally within this story. The circuit challenges drivers with its narrow layout and banked corners, while its coastal setting introduces shifting conditions that can change the rhythm of a race without warning. The return of Formula 1 to this track reignited a strong fan culture, defined by a sea of orange that transforms the grandstands into a moving landscape. The atmosphere feels dense, focused, and loud. TAG Heuer draws on that intensity, translating it into a watch that carries the same sense of proximity and pressure.

Energy that Keeps Pace

The two new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph translate the energy of the circuit into a focused design language. The 38 mm case brings a compact presence on the wrist. It sits with precision, balanced and purposeful, designed to follow movement rather than resist it.

Across both limited editions, the visual identity remains coordinated. A grey dial sets the foundation, punctuated by an orange and red minuterie that brings immediate contrast. The composition is direct, with color used as a signal rather than decoration. The layout holds its balance, allowing each element to contribute to a clear reading of time while maintaining a strong visual rhythm.

The case continues this approach with a sandblasted steel finish that reinforces its character. The surface absorbs light, giving the watch a matte presence that aligns with the world of motorsport. Its construction draws from the original TAG Heuer Formula 1 case inspiration, preserving a recognizable silhouette while refining its proportions for a more compact format.

Encircling the dial, the bidirectional bezel carries the iconic daisy motif, crafted from TH-Polylight. This material introduces a distinct tactile quality while maintaining durability and lightness. The bezel frames the watch, its rotation precise and deliberate, reinforcing the connection to timing and measurement.

At three o'clock, the date is positioned cleanly within the composition, integrated without disrupting the balance. The hands follow the original TAG Heuer Formula 1 design, including the original hour hand that anchors the watch within its lineage. Their form ensures immediate readability, supporting a clear indication of time at a glance. Applied indexes filled with eggshell Super LumiNova provide visibility as light conditions change, extending usability into lower light environments. The signature shields at six, nine, and twelve o'clock reinforce the identity of the watch, structuring the dial with a familiar visual code that remains consistent across both editions.

The first limited edition, limited to 1,500 pieces, is paired with a rubber strap that maintains a direct connection to the racing environment. The second, limited to 1,000 pieces, introduces a steel three row bracelet. Both timepieces are presented with dedicated packaging marked with TAG Heuer Formula 1 Limited Edition writing inside.

Powered by the Solargraph movement, the watches harness both natural and artificial light as a virtually unlimited energy source. A one-minute exposure to direct sunlight is enough to power the watch for an entire day, while a full charge, reached in under 40 hours of light exposure, delivers up to ten months of autonomy in total darkness. Even after stopping, the watch restarts with just ten seconds of light exposure, and its accumulator offers an impressive lifespan of up to fifteen years, ensuring enduring reliability.

Zandvoort signs off at full speed, its final lap locked in a watch that refuses to slow down.
