Lamborghini and The Italian Excellence Code
Italian actor Stefano Accorsi explores italianità, defining the essence of Made in Italy
Automobili Lamborghini is synonymous with Italy and its inimitable culture. There’s an italianness, italianità , an innate DNA that reveals itself at every turn and yet is quintessentially difficult to explain: ‘Made in Italy’ is not only the pinnacle of design and manufacturing, it emanates something unique to the country it references. Is it even possible to define what constitutes Made in Italy ‘excellence’?
Stefano Accorsi is an award-winning Italian actor, writer and director. Born in Bologna with the sound of super sports cars resonating around his hometown, Accorsi embarks on a journey to understand The Italian Excellence Code: the latest films from Automobili Lamborghini.
The answers aren’t obvious: revelations come from the simplest observations in an Italian piazza. Humans and their environment interact to create a particular aesthetic - a taste - perceptible in every moment and every facet of Italian life. Accorsi watches every movement, every choice made against a backdrop of tradition and culture. The design and colour of Italian life, of Lamborghini, is infinitely nuanced: this is taste.
Accorsi observes the complex sport of fencing, with its precision, movement and style. The fencer perfects every decision, learns and evolves to elevate outcomes. When the move is flawless, it’s evaluated and assessed and sharpened further. Sportiness, elegance, skill and technical know-how combine to constantly advance to new dimensions. This is ingenuity. An essential of the Excellence Code.
But is taste and ingenuity enough, or is there a final component? Can the world of opera reveal a flair unique to Italy that gives this elusive equation its voice? Accorsi explores the theatre of performance, where a new interpretation of established and loved compositions gives rise to original drama, passion and sensations, and the flair of the Italian maestro.
Set against the backdrop of Italy and a celebration of Lamborghini’s world of super sports cars, Stefano Accorsi takes viewers on a thoughtful and sensuous voyage of discovery in a three-part film to identify ‘The Italian Excellence Code’.
